To seek Baptism for either yourself or for your child is a very exciting thing. Baptism celebrates a new beginning as a member of Christ’s body, the Church. When we come for Baptism we are saying “yes” to God’s love and desire for us to belong to the community of God’s people. To seek Baptism for a child is to say that you want to give them the gift of being part of God’s family and to have God involved in their life.
Come along to either our Traditional 8am Service or to our 10am Contemporary Family Service.
This is your opportunity to check us out! It might sound funny to say, but we may not be suited to your “style” of engaging with God.
We want to give you the freedom to decide whether we are the right church community for you – so first things first – come and meet us!
A couple of things You Need to Know
Before organising a Baptism you will need to think about a couple of things. You and those you choose to have as Godparents have a very great responsibility. During the service you all will make a promise to encourage a foundation in your child’s life for the Christian faith.
Spend some time finding out what this means for you. If you are unsure, this can be discussed after you visit our church and then arrange a time to met with Reverend Dan.
To be a Godparent or sponsor, a person must have baptised or be a regular attender in church. If they are not, you may want to think about alternative Godparents.
Alternatively, they can go through our 6 week course. Each session only runs for approx 45 minutes and no prior knowledge is needed.
Due to the preparation required for Baptism at The Lakes Anglican Church, arrangements usually need to be made at least 2-3 months in advance. Please contact our office for further information.
